Reb Birds Game
I attended a Memphis Red Birds Games last weekend. I live in Michigan so I'm not used to the Memphis lifestyle. I was excited to go to the game and see how they reacted and promoted the Reb Birds. Overall the game was the same as anyother game I would attend in Michigan. There was one difference though. After the game they had fireworks for everyone to watch. All the games that i have attended in Michigan, I have never got to experince fireworks like that. They were so close and every fun to watch. I'm not sure if Michigan games do this, but I have just not had a chance to go to one of those games. If Michigan games don't do this i feel we should invest in this. Its a great actraction. I was glad I went to the game and I would go to another anytime I got the chance.
Centenary Creative Dance
This event was held at the Centenary playhouse. There were a lot of people that attended this event. It was great to see the turn out, and support for the drama and dance students they put time and hard work into these activities to entertain us. The small plays consisted of dance/movement to express a story. Some of the short skits had some acting in them but the majority amount of the skits were dancing. It was nice to see and take in the different views of the skits. Some people thought it was dumb and a waste of time to see. Others took it in a totally different way. They felt it was very moving and nice to watch. I felt it was something that made me think and I feel each person would take it a different way depending on what was going on in your life, and how you take and handle things in life. This was a great thing Centenary had going on for a Friday night. I can't wait to go to the next one, and see how it makes me feel and how I react to it.

Charlie St. Cloud
This movie was a packed show. Everyone was there to watch the very sad and movie Charlie St. Cloud. This is a movie about a brothers that were so close and sailed boats together, but then something very crazy and upsetting happens. The little brother of Charlie dies in a car crash, but he lives. Charlie is so upset and confused by this experience that he quits sailing and goes to the woods everyday to see his little brothers ghost. He soon realizes that he need to let go of his brother and live his life. Get back to sailing and doing what he loves. He needs to not forget about his brother, but to live his life. He starts to see this girl's ghost, but at first he doesnt know it is her ghost. Once he realizes what is going on he notices the girl hasnt died yet, and she is just stuck out in sea. He looks for her and finds her, saves her life. This makes him realize he needs to start living his life and let his brother and what happened go. This movie has a great meaning and gets the point across that sometimes you need to let go before you can move on.
Big Love
Big Love was a play at the playhouse here at Centenary. It was about love but not all the great things that love can make but the not so good feelings love can make you have. There were three main ladies that were forced to marry their cousins. They didnt like this idea, so they ran away. They expressed that love shouldn't be thrown on you, you should be able to pick when and who you marry. The grooms of the three ladies found them, and told them they had a deal with their fathers and they had to marry them no matter what. That night the ladies decided to make a pack to marry their cousins but then kill them welling making love. Each sister agreed to this plan. They all got ready for their lovely weddings and married their cousins. After the weddings each sister killed their husbands except for one. Once the other sisters found out they were so upset and couldn't believe that their sister had betrayed them like that. The sister explained that she was in love and wanted to stay with her husband, she was ok with the marriage. This play was very moving, and a great show.

Nationals
The Centenary Gymnastics team made it to Nationals this year in Colorado Springs. This is a very exciting thing, the team hasn't made it in the last two years. The girls are ready to take on the other teams and show them what Centneary is made of. We were drove to the airport in Longview by Doc. Henderson and Dustin the assistant swim coach. Before we got in the vans to leave, we had some great fans give us treats and wish us good luck. We traveled the long trip to Colorando, and arrived night Wednesday night. The next morning we had a workout session at the gym we would be competing at the next day. We worked hard and prepared ourselves for the competion. Friday, Competion day, the meet was going great but we had some falls on beam which pushed us back to much. We were excited to be at nationals and will use this as a learning experince for the next time we make it. On our way back we all we pretty upset and sad that our season had come to an end, but we talked about goals we want to accomplish next year. We plan to work hard in the summer and make it to the second day next year.
Banquet
Monday, April 25, 2011, I attended the Centenary Athletic Banquet. It was held at the Holiday Inn. Everyone was dressed up and looking their best. Every sports team from Centenary attended this event. First, we all just sat down and chatted between your team and other team. Then the banquet began. Dave Voskuil started it off with a breif introduction, then we were told we could eat. After dinner we listen to a guest speaker. He was a high jumper back in the 1980s. He attended two Olympics, and explained to us that change is going to happen and how to react to it. He also talked about his life story and how he got to be the person he is today. This was a learning experience and we something that really got me thinking about my life and future. After the speaker was finished, we were free to go. We took a quick picture, and then headed back to Shreveport.
